Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office Welcomes New K-9

Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office has welcomed a new K-9 to their force. The agency suffered a loss over the summer after K-9 “Q” was diagnosed with terminal cancer that quickly progressed and took her life. The loss was especially hard on Cpl. Morant Harrison, Q’s handler who had been partnered with her for about a year, and Cpl. Harrison’s family. At the time, the Sheriff’s Office was unsure if and when a new K-9 would replace Q though they began to explore options immediately. Last week, the Sheriff’s Office announced that Cpl. Morant Harrison has a new K-9 partner named Xen (pronounced Zen). The mostly black German Shepherd was donated to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office after the death of Q. The members of the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy had the opportunity to meet Xen during a recent class.
