Unemployment numbers by County show a positive trend for the Uintah Basin. While still in the higher end of the state averages, County unemployment rates in Uintah and Duchesne County continue to decrease. Duchesne County went down by two-tenths of a percent from 5.4 to 5.2 percent while Uintah County decreased from 5.8 to 5.6 percent unemployment. Daggett County remained at 5.6 percent. State unemployment ticked down from 3.4 to 3.3 percent and national unemployment decreased from 4.2 to 4.1 percent. Since October 2016, the state’s Natural Resource and Mining industry has decreased in employment by 300 positions and the Information industry lost 1,000 positions. The largest private sector employment increases in the state were in Professional and Business Services with 5,500 jobs added over the year.
