The discussion of streetlight configuration branching from the Main Street and Aggie Boulevard roundabout in Uintah County has been ongoing for public officials and a final decision appears to be approaching. Vernal City officials and Uintah County Commissioners have had multiple meetings discussing the configuration in the last 6 months considering cost savings and what the right number of lights will be. Uintah County approved that the lights should be cut down to only every 3rd light to remain on the West leg, and every 4th light to remain on the North and South leg. In October, the Vernal City Council approved removing every other light within Vernal City boundaries. Tonight Vernal City Council will consider the item again and determine if they will keep the configuration at every other streetlight or switch it to match something closer to the County’s plan. Once a final decision is reached, City and County staff will meet with Rocky Mountain Power officials to begin the transition.
