Ice Fishing Seminars Coming Up in Vernal

December is an exciting time for many people, especially for those that love ice fishing. Two ice fishing seminars are scheduled for Vernal in the coming weeks for a range of skill levels. “The seminars are a great opportunity to ask biologists and ice fishing experts what you can do to improve your success on the ice and the best part is, they’re free,” shares DWR outreach manager Tonya Kieffer. The seminar scheduled for
December 21st
is aimed at helping beginning anglers gain the skills needed to feel comfortable on the ice and start catching fish. The
January 5th
seminar provides advanced tips and techniques for those already familiar with ice fishing and ready for new things to try. Ice fishing has begun at many of the Basin’s higher elevation waters and temperatures throughout the region are dipping below freezing, a sign that lakes in the area will start freezing fast, says Kieffer. While there are many tips that will be shared, one that can’t be overemphasized is that you need to dress in layers in warm clothes including warm, waterproof boots. Both seminars will be held at Sportsman’s Warehouse in Vernal.  For more information, call
