The no-show jurors on the Flatlip/Rondeau mistrial in Summit County last week will be ordered to show cause for their absence in court. According to Summit County 3rd District Court Supervisor Debbie Foust, the court is issuing order to show cause to each of the 36 no-show jurors. This action, however, is standard practice in Summit County, explains Foust, who says this is a practice they always do and always have practiced and is not unique to this case. The trial of Jerry Flatlip, Randall Flatlip, and Larson Rondeau began in Summit County on December 12th but was declared a mistrial by the end of the day for failure to seat a jury. It was decided last spring that the trial of the three men accused of raping a 9-year-old girl would be moved from Uintah County and was scheduled for Summit County which ended in the mistrial. Court records show that the case was transferred on Monday, December 18th, to Judge Paul B. Parker of 3rd District Court in Salt Lake County.
