Uintah School District Celebrates Graduation Rates

The rate of seniors graduating from Uintah School District is on the rise which many consider a cause to celebrate. To put things in perspective, in 2008, only 55 percent of Uintah School District seniors graduated while the state average that year was 69 percent. State and district rates have thankfully risen since then and by 2016 the District graduation rate was 79 percent and the state average had risen to an impressive 85 percent. With an amazing jump in just one year, the 2017 rate for Uintah School District reached 86 percent, a mark identical to the statewide graduation rate. “This achievement is a combination of a number of things,” shares Uintah School District Curriculum Director Jayme Leyba. “We have stability at the administrative level – both in the district office and in our individual schools with our principals – and everyone is focused on doing what is best for our students.” Leyba says this is an effort by the entire community of educators with the elementary schools closing gaps and collectively doing a better job of focusing on critical skills.
