The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra continues to grow and reach new heights thanks to the contributions of many. Rocky Mountain Power has joined the list of supporters, sending their Regional Business Manager to Vernal last week to present the organization with a check for $1,000 dollars. “We want to be a contributing member to each of the communities we serve and we consider the arts to be a critical and integral part of making sure a community thrives,” shares Rocky Mountain Power Regional Business Manager Don Watts. “We love to support organizations like this one because it allows the youth to thrive and makes sure the talents of those in the community are brought to the forefront.” Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion and Vernal City Mayor Doug Hammond joined UBYCO Director Brad Vanfleet and several board members at Vernal City Hall to welcome Watts. The youngest member of the orchestra, 9-year-old Annika Rust, was able to attend and offer a quiet and sincere ‘thank you’ on behalf of the UBYCO musicians. The grant money will be put to good use, says Director Vanfleet, buying music and supporting guest workshops.
