One Vernal woman has defeat the odds in the publishing world with the release of her 5th novel coming up on February 6th, a feat that even most published authors never reach. The Dragon’s Curse is the second book in Bethany Wiggins’ Transference trilogy with publisher powerhouse Random House Books. Book one in the series, The Dragon’s Price, was released in February 2017 and the release of book three is expected in February 2019. Wiggins first found success with her book Shifting, published in 2011. Her popularity rapidly grew with her next two novels Stung in 2013 and its sequel Cured in 2014, all three published by industry leader Walker/Bloomsbury. Wiggins has received multiple state and national awards for Stung in the years since, with Scholastic Books buying the rights to sell her books. Stung, fast paced and filled with science and genetics, was an incredible book to write, says Wiggins, but writing The Dragon’s Curse has been its own amazing experience. “There are no magic rules, no dragon rules, and no maps,” shares Wiggins. “It is strictly from my brain, something totally new. I got to invent seven dragons which was amazing! Every time I sat down to write, the story expanded and grew in ways that I never dreamed of.” The Uintah County Library is hosting the launch party for The Dragon’s Curse on February 6th at 7pm. All are invited and books will be sold and signed at the event. Learn more about Bethany at
