Vernal City Explores City Priorities and Initiatives for 2018

Vernal City Council met in a special work session on Thursday to explore the city priorities and initiatives for 2018. The work session had a list 37 items long and the group spent anywhere from 30 seconds to 10 minutes on each item determining if it was a priority this year, explains Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion. The topics of focus included the following: The Roger Brooks presentation last fall of about 20 recommended items involving Vernal City was discussed, some of which are underway and others the Council want to consider. The Council desires a continued emphasis on downtown vitality and working with business owners and the downtown committee. Code inspection is a priority to continue the pride of Vernal and beautification efforts. The Council wants to improve communication with residents including online. They also discussed applying for another safe routes to school grant for the Discovery Elementary neighborhood.
