At 27-years-old, Nashelle Jackson wears many hats, often several at the same time. The titles of devoted mother, wife, and piano teacher began to share time two years ago with new titles like owner and operator of Vernal Theatre: LIVE as well as producer, director, and the occasional on stage role ranging from leading lady to townsperson. While Nashelle’s tenacity and hard work has recently been recognized on a state level, she is quick to emphasize that the success of Vernal Theatre: LIVE is thanks to everyone involved including those onstage, backstage, in the audience, and beyond. While of course that is true, credit has also been given where it is due with Nashelle having received an award on behalf of Vernal Theatre: LIVE on February 2nd at the State Capitol from the Utah Small Business Development Center Network (SBDC). SBDC is a statewide resource assisting small businesses throughout Utah with 14 locations and every year the network features a limited amount of small businesses in Utah in their annual report. Vernal Theatre: LIVE is one among just 10 selected this year statewide. The Small Business Development Center at the USU Extension in Vernal has been critical in helping the theatre apply for zero to low interest loan options to get their operation off the ground and where they are today.
