A four vehicle crash on 500 North in Vernal could have been much worse on Wednesday. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a pileup occured when two young girls darted into traffic. The accident took place
around 5:00pm
near 900 West as the girls crossed north across 500 North after leaving the park. Two vehicles braked and stopped for the children to cross but a third vehicle, driven by a minor, struck the second vehicle from the rear pushing it into the first vehicle. The rear end of the third vehicle spun into westbound traffic and was struck by a fourth vehicle, shares Highway Patrol. The girls were not harmed but two individuals from the vehicles were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Three of the vehicles sustained severe damage and had to be towed from the scene of the accident. The minor was cited with following too close.
