As always, it is onward and upward for the Uintah Basin Technical College. UBTech will be breaking ground tomorrow on a state of the art welding technology building on the Roosevelt campus and even before the new building opens in 2019 there will be plenty of students to fill it. There is currently a nationwide shortage of 300,000 welders, as the majority of welders are nearing retirement age, shares UBTech Welding Instructor Kevin Mitchell. By the year 2024 it’s estimated there will be a need for 400,000 welders. The Utah State Legislature funded the $4.5 million dollar facility and UBTech has partnered with two highly respected welding companies to equip the 12,500 square foot facility. The public is invited to attend the groundbreaking ceremonies held at the UBTech Roosevelt Campus at
1100 East Lagoon Street
this Thursday at 2:00pm
