Ute Hockey Raising Funds To Boost Coaching Staff

It’s amazing how far volunteer coaching has taken hockey in the Vernal area but the effort is now focused on raising funds for a paid coach. The Uintah Ute hockey team is holding a fundraiser raffle for a 6.5 Creedmor Rifle with a drawing to be held
May 1st.
Coach Ian Soldano has an impressive background playing and coaching hockey and he has built a relationship with many of the players. “We’ve worked with Coach Saldano and we want to bring him in to coach the high school hockey team and to help with the younger groups as well,” shares volunteer Coach Levi Pummell. “The kids are excited and connected with him really well. He is a high level coach.” Saldona played Triple A hockey and then Juniors before playing for Weber State. He made it as far as the USA hockey team, shares Coach Pummell, and then in 2005 began playing professionally in Australia. “Our kids have a ton of talent and we want to expound that with great coaching and great opportunities,” shares Pummell. “This would be a total game changer.”  Tickets for the rifle are $5 dollars each or 5 tickets for $20 dollars. The drawing will be held
on May 1st.
