Last month TriCounty Health promoted a national day of activism aimed at empowering youth to stand up against Big Tobacco and “Kick Butt.” Kick Butts Day was observed on March 21st and Uintah and Duchesne County Youth Coalitions planned events in local schools to educate peers on the dangers of tobacco use. The local events were among more than 1,000 events in schools and communities across the United States. The Uintah County youth coalition had booths at Uintah High School and the Terra Academy while the Duchesne County Youth Coalition had booths at Altamont Junior High and High School as well as at Roosevelt Junior High. TriCounty Health Department supports these youth in their efforts in advocating for a tobacco free generation as well as other community issues the teens are passionate about.
