Those out and about in the Vernal area
Sunday morning
enjoyed a special view. Three pilots and their colorful hot air balloons were seen taking test launches as they prepare for an upcoming balloon festival in May. The Dinah “Soar” Days and Hot Air Balloon Festival is planned to take place in the area of Vernal’s Main Street and Aggie Boulevard.
Utah Senator Curt Bramble was among the pilots testing out their air balloons on Sunday in Vernal in advance of the festival. Event representative Becca Summers is inviting more volunteers to sign up to help. “This past weekend you may have walked out your door to see hot air balloons soaring over your home,” shares Summers. “Three hot air balloon pilots came into town to fly over Vernal to do test launches for the upcoming festival. While they were here they trained several volunteers on how to help launch balloons and they made site visits for the various balloon activities that will be going on during the festival. If you would like to volunteer to work with a balloon crew during the festival,” continues Summers, “you can find a sign-up link on the event’s facebook page.” The May festival is scheduled for

, 12th, and 13th. The event will include a street festival with food and craft booths, live music, a car show, and of course the hot air balloons, among other activities.
