The Uintah High School track team, as well as many others, are celebrating a fantastic accomplishment of four of their teammates. You might assume high school seniors Kyler Lawson, Kyle Henderson, Brandon Slaugh, and Payton Pace have been running together for several years but that just isn’t the case. In fact, while Kyle is a four year trackster, this is Kyler, Brandon, and Payton’s first year and on Thursday, these four broke a record in the boys relay that had been in place for 21 years. The old school record was 43.7 seconds set by Anthony Thomas, Wes Madsen, Brett Wilhelm, and Ryan Edwards in 1997. Just slightly faster, the new Uintah record, set on Thursday during the semi-finals at the state competition in Provo, is 43.68 seconds. “These young men have improved immensely since they first started,” shares Coach Tyler Hill. “They started out average and as the season has gone on they have continually gotten faster. They wanted to learn and understand how to improve and are very humble about their accomplishment. It’s been an amazing experience for the coaches to be able to coach them.” Congratulations Kyler Lawson, Kyle Henderson, Brandon Slaugh, and Payton Pace on your new record!
