Local high school students had a fantastic day of learning at the first Earth Observation and GIS day hosted by USU-Uintah Basin. “We appreciate the Quinney College of Natural Resources and the Utah Geographic Information Council for supporting youth outreach in our community,” shares USU-Uintah Basin Executive Director James Taylor. “This was a great opportunity for high school students to start exploring career pathways aligned with their interests that provide value to our local community.” Students learned about resources to observe and study the earth from air and space and also participated in a UAS (unmanned aerial systems) flight. Uintah High student Jackson Liesik commented that his favorite part of the day was flying the drones. It was a successful day of learning for all involved.
