Keep an eye out for fake bills as their use is on the rise in the Uintah Basin. According to Roosevelt City Police Chief Rick Harrison, Roosevelt Police have seen a noticeable increase in counterfeit currency. “Businesses and individuals have been receiving suspected counterfeit bills on a regular basis over the last several months,” shares Chief Harrison. “Please take notice of bills that appear different. Smaller, discolored, odd coloration, abnormal texture or thickness, extra print or lack of security markings are all indications a bill may not be authentic.” Anyone who believes they may have a counterfeit bill are encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
