A Craig man is behind bars in a case of attempted murder and arson. According to the Craig Police Department, officers were dispatched to 925 West 1st Street on Thursday, June 21st, at approximately 4:02pm on a call of assault. “The reporting party stated that her nephew attempted to kill her,” shares Craig Police. “On the officer’s arrival, they saw the victim’s residence was filled with smoke. The Fire Department quickly extinguished the fire inside the residence. The victim was located outside of the residence. She had injuries to her upper body. She was transported to Regional Memorial Health for treatment of her injuries.” 36-year-old Jonathan Alexzander Waugh was arrested on suspicion of Attempted First Degree Homicide, First Degree Arson, and Second Degree Assault. The case remains under investigation.
