The BLM announced Tuesday the beginning of a 15-day scoping period to include the public as a large amount of oil and gas leases are considered, the majority of which are located in the Uintah Basin. There are 225 parcels being considered for lease and 159 of them are located in the boundaries of the Vernal Field Office, according to BLM.gov. “The BLM welcomes and encourages public involvement early in the NEPA process, as it is an integral part in our evaluation of the proposed lease parcels,” shares Deputy State Director for Lands and Minerals Kent Hoffman. “The most effective comments will identify issues and concerns specific to the parcels being considered.” The parcel list can be reviewed, including maps, at the BLM ePlanning National NEPA Register project page. The public scoping period ends on Friday, July 31st.
