The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office provided updates this week on the Dollar Ridge Fire and the area affected by flooding. On Tuesday night, the Sheriff’s Office shared that an area of Forest Service land within the perimeter of the Dollar Ridge Fire was actively burning in 50 to 100 acres of timber. Because the glow from the fire could be seen for miles, the Sheriff’s Office wanted to assure any concerned citizens that this is not a new fire but is part of the Dollar Ridge Fire and that no structures are threatened by the flare up. The Sheriff’s Office also shared that on Tuesday, a group of local, state, and federal officials toured the area of the Strawberry River Road west of Camelot Resort affected by the flooding on July 22nd. The visit confirmed that the Strawberry River Road will remain closed to vehicle traffic for at least a year. Violation of the closure is a misdemeanor. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that there may be little or no notice if another flooding incident happens and so the safety precautions now in place are necessary.
