The unveiling of the Eric Dowdle painting
on Wednesday morning
at Vernal City Hall attracted a diverse crowd excited to get a closer look at the folk art’s local aspects.  After a short welcome and introduction by Zions Bank officials, a video featuring Eric Dowdle was played, in which the artist further explained his inspiration on the project. Dowdle described his days growing up in Green River, Wyoming, and the time he spent at Flaming Gorge, floating the Green River, and exploring Vernal itself. He says he now enjoys bringing his kids to Vernal for the multitude of offerings found here. Folk art, says Dowdle, portrays the relationship between people and their environment. He said it was a pleasure for him to capture all that is significant to the Vernal area into one story. Local landmarks, people, buildings, and events are all included. The portrait is on display at the Vernal City Building. Puzzles of the portrait will also be available to the public and are expected to be a big hit locally.
