The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is trying to help you keep your hard earned money in your own bank account by warning citizens of the latest telephone scam hitting the area hard. Con artists are leaving voicemails asking the recipient to call them back. If the person calls them back they answer the phone very professionally pretending to be the IRS and demanding payment. “Our detectives would like to warn the community in hopes to reduce the individuals who could fall victim to this scam,” shares the Sheriff’s Office. “Please pass this along to friends, family, and especially the elderly. Remember NEVER share your personal information to anyone over the phone.” If you get a phone call from someone asking for money claiming to be from the IRS hang up and call the IRS direct line at
