Precautions Urged As West Nile Virus Present in TriCounty Health District

Officials are urging locals to take precautions to prevent West Nile Virus. Uintah Mosquito Abatement District representative Kirk Robbins encourages residents to remove standing water in yards and around homes to limit contact with mosquitos. TriCounty Health District is also reminding individuals to wear long sleeves and to use DEET if going to enjoy the outdoors. The mosquito that carries West Nile Virus is more prominent between dusk and dawn. There have been 28 new positive mosquito pools in Utah bringing the total to 108 this season. One human case was reported in the TriCounty Health District bringing the total human cases for the state to four this season, one of which resulted in death.
