September is National Recovery Month and Vernal was home to its 5th Annual Recovery Day Event over the weekend.
Friday night
individuals were able to share their stories during an open speaker meeting of how they got clean and what they are doing to continue on their journey. Saturday started with a walk, followed by an all day Softball Tournament and BBQ, with the purpose of providing a time to support one another and build camaraderie. “Most of our participants are people who are in recovery or individuals who have family members that have struggled with substance abuse,” shares Vernal City Recovery Day Coalition Executive Director Debi Prisbrey. “This event is a time for individuals who are struggling or who have struggled to come together for some fun, share their stories, and take part in a celebration of recovery.” Prisbrey says there are many local resources to help families affected by addiction.
