It’s been a great school year so far at Discovery Elementary and among the positive happenings is the students working hard to be kind and thoughtful to those around them. Discovery Principal Tammy Christensen started the year off by visiting each classroom and reading the book ‘Have You Filled a Bucket Today?’ with the hope that students would begin to recognize that their actions are either helping others by filling buckets or hurting others by being a bucket dipper. Every morning Mrs. Christensen holds the front door open for the students to enter the school and often hears from students about how they are trying to fill someone’s bucket. This led to Christensen taking the object lesson a step further and providing a special bucket where students can place notes of how they tried to fill a bucket. “In this way our students will be able to see how much of a difference it makes when so many of them are filling other students’ buckets,” shares Discovery Elementary. “It is a great example of how just one person working with others around them can make meaningful change in the world.” Way to go Principal Christensen and the students of Discovery Elementary for spreading goodness in the community.
