The wild pheasant populations are lower than in past years but hunters have no reason to worry. The Division of Wildlife Resources has announced that they will be releasing more than 10,000 pheasants between 61 sites around the state during the general pheasant hunt that runs
from November 3rd through December 2nd.
Biologists and conservation officers will be releasing pheasants before each weekend of the hunt with the one exception of Thanksgiving when birds will be released earlier in the week. Locations where pheasants will be released in northeastern Utah include Browns Park, Stewart Lake, Pariette Wetlands, Water Hollow Ranch, Rabbit Gulch, and Starvation State Park, among many other locations. If you decide to hunt during opening this weekend, remember there will be a lot of hunters out so keep your dogs under control and be courteous and respectful of others.
