The ‘Friends of Kids Canal’ are inviting the public to attend an upcoming public meeting of the Ashley Central Canal company where further plans for Kids Canal will be discussed. While locals generally understand the movement of canal companies to pipe their water, a significant number of community members remain opposed to the plans of the Ashley Central Canal to pipe Kids Canal, located in Vernal from 500 North to 500 South on 1500 West. According to Friends of Kids Canal, the upcoming public meeting is where engineers will announce the plans for Kids Canal and that the canal section from Main Street to 500 North that includes a shady walkway and swimming hole, remains in danger. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14th, 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Western Park.
