It’s almost time to launch summer fun by hitting the outdoors. If the Green River is your destination it’s important to use extra caution as the increase in water releases from Flaming Gorge Reservoir can cause a safety risk. “A springtime release of water could occur between mid-May through early-June,” shares the Bureau of Reclamation. “When recreating in or around the Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam during the high release, water will be colder than usual and will run high and swift.” The daily average release from Flaming Gorge Dam was increased from 850 cubic feet per second to 1,800 cubic feet per second as part of the plan to send water south to help with the critically low water levels of Lake Powell.
