Health educators from TriCounty Health Department visited the Evans Family Media studios this week to share with the community the danger of high blood pressure as part of this week’s Give’m Health feature. High blood pressure is often known as the silent killer and can be tricky as there may not be any symptoms. Healthy blood pressure is around 120 over 80 and high blood pressure tends to affect more men than women. Risk factors include family history, age, not being physically active, having too much salt in your diet, and being overweight. Adults are encouraged to check blood pressure regularly and adopt healthy practices like getting exercises and using less salt. Blood pressure can be checked for free at the health department, Davis Food and Drug, Smiths, and Stewarts, among other places. Learn more at www.tricountyhealth.com.
