Members of the Uintah County Library recently presented at the Vernal Chamber luncheon, highlighting how the library is so much more than just books. Jen Garcia and Christina Higgins highlighted the large variety of programs and events. Not only does the Youth Council do all kinds of service projects, including Cards for Seniors and holidays, two members have received the Governor’s Certificate of Recognition for their services. Another program that is offered is “Adulting 101” where teenagers have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills including finance, health, self care, and household skills to name a few. Code Club allows youth to learn code in common programs and boost problem-solving skills. There are several weekly programs for seniors including Senior Social Hour and Creative Aging Art Class. The Lego Club is popular for all ages with 30 to 80 people attending. There is a Read to A Service Dog program that allows young people to snuggle and cuddle with a loving dog friend while reading. Even preschool age children can get involved with Songs and Stories where they learn skills needed for school with songs, stories, and crafts in each 30 minute session. Check the Library Website for a calendar and more information about their services and programs.
