Community members, including local leaders and businesses, are putting their money where their mouth is by donating to the cause of saving Vernal’s T-Rex. A fundraising effort, launched late last week, had raised around $9,000 dollars by Sunday evening. The hope is that many more community members will get on board and donate to the cause, even if it’s just a few dollars, as the estimate for repairs will be about $30,000 dollars. George and Helen Millecam built the iconic T-Rex around 1969 as a companion to other dinosaur statues they had at their Dine-A-Ville Motel where the current downtown Mountain America Credit Union now sits. A recent survey issued by Vernal City showed that a large portion of the community wish to see T-Rex repaired and to remain on Main Street. To learn more or to contribute, visit www.vernalcity.org.
