Uintah Recreation District Board Considers Master Plan Presentation

The April board meeting held last week for the Uintah Recreation Special Service District included visuals of a Master Plan update with exciting possibilities. Bart Jensen, Manager for Jones and DeMille Engineering, presented a preliminary draft of master plan development of the Kay Memorial Park on the property adjacent to the Uintah Community Center. The drawing includes a 5-field softball complex, 4 junior baseball fields, multi purpose fields, sports courts, an amphitheater, multi-use trails, sledding hill, playground, skate park, and additions to the Community Center. The entrance to the Community Center would move to the opposite end and an outdoor pool area, including lap pool, waterslides, playground, splash pad, and an indoor/outdoor connection would be added to the south side. The drawings also include an area for a future elementary school, playground, and parking west of the Community Center. Parking is incorporated throughout the master plan design as well. Concepts for the Kay Memorial Park have been discussed for over a decade and last week’s presentation is just the first step in considering these master plan concepts. The second step would be to introduce the plans to the public and seek public input. After considering the level of community support, the rec board could then explore funding options.
