Union High School students stood out at the State competition for Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) with several headed to nationals in June. As a Career and Technical Student Organization, HOSA is an extracurricular school activity that is tied directly to classroom learning. Union Internship Coordinator Michael North shares that HOSA students meet weekly during golden hour or after school, choose a category, then study, practice and compete. Union High students qualified in the following categories and will be competing at nationals held in Nashville, Tennessee in June: Jaxon Thomas and Valorie Gubler in Forensic Science, Autumn Chapoose in Clinical Science, Nick Chapoose in Medical Law & Ethics, and Kaitlyn Winn in Behavioral Science. “I am proud to see our students competing and representing the Uintah Basin,” shares Mr. North. “These students have overcome obstacles and are now preparing to compete at a national level. We appreciate the training and financial support from Uintah Basin Healthcare.” To get involved or to help these students get to Nashville with a financial donation, please contact Michael North at mnorth@dcsd.org.
