The Uintah County Republican Convention was held on Tuesday evening. For Uintah County Commission Seat A, delegates voted for John Larsen to be the Republican nominee for the 2022 election with 130 votes. Incumbent Commissioner Bart Haslem received 39 votes. For Uintah County Commission Seat B, delegates ultimately voted for Sonja Norton and Willis LeFevre to move forward to the upcoming Uintah County Primary Election. The winner of the Primary will be on the November ballot as the Uintah County Republican Party’s nominee. The initial vote for Commission Seat B had 14 votes for Ben Justice, 28 votes for Bud Allen, 32 votes each for Willis LeFevre and Wayne Simper, and 62 votes for Sonja Norton. A vote was then held between the top three and Wayne Simper received 36 votes, Willis LeFevre received 56 votes, and Sonja Norton received 75 votes. A final vote was held for delegates to vote for Norton or LeFevre and if either had received at least 70 percent of the vote then that individual would have been the nominee. With Norton receiving 90 votes and LeFevre receiving 73 votes both move on to the Primary.
