Last month, students from Uintah High School got some great hands-on experience in their hopeful profession. The students in Mrs. Janalee Watkins’ Teaching as a Profession (TAP) program taught their first class to the students in the District’s Gifted and Talented program. The TAP program is designed to introduce students to the role and positive influence of effective educators. It also prepares them for college-level work in education programs. “It was the culmination of a cooperative effort between UHS librarian/media specialist Machelle Maxwell, the TAP students and the district’s Gifted and Talented program, which is coordinated by Lynna Kendall,” shares the District announcement. “Maxwell and the TAP students developed a lesson plan about pirates for ‘a day full of critical thinking and fun’ with students in the Gifted and Talented program.”
