In case you didn’t know, tossing teddy bears is a cherished part of the game of hockey. The Vernal Oilers got in on the tradition during their Saturday match. “[Saturday night’s] game brought some incredible hockey action,” shared the Vernal Oilers on social media. “Some of the best action came in the form of charity! The Oilers faithful flooded the ice with hundreds of stuffed animals to help those in need.” The Oilers thanked the Uintah and Duchesne County Sheriff’s Offices for the opportunity to help. The world record for a teddy bear toss took place in January during a Hershey Bears Hockey game in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They collected 52,341 stuffed animals during that single event, giving the Vernal Oilers fans something to aspire to.
