The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office has issued a timely warning that applies to rural counties throughout the region. “With the rising cost of fuel prices, we expect to see a rise in fuel thefts,” shared the announcement. “Be diligent in taking extra steps to lock and secure your vehicles, fuel pumps as well as other fuel containers. Pay special attention to large equipment, farm equipment and construction equipment. Remember fuel that is sitting off the beaten path can be an easy target for thieves, keep them secure and watched closely.” Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office asks those in their county to report thefts or suspicious behavior by calling 970-878-9600. Those in other areas can call their respective law enforcement agency and all can call 9-1-1.
