Uintah County issued a press release on Monday sharing that the Commission approved the addition of $5.1 million dollars in federal CARES Act funds to the current fiscal year budget. CARES stands for Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security and the CARES Act monies are expected to be received by the county in three installments. “The commissioners have determined that strengthening the local economy is the best use of these funds,” shares the press release. “The recovery funds will be used, in part, to provide grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 that are based on funding priorities, the number of applications received, and the availability of grant funding. More than $1 million in grants will be awarded to local businesses during Round 1 of the process.” The deadline to apply has been extended to Tuesday, July 21st.
