Candidacy filing dates are approaching for the 2026 General Election. In both Duchesne County and Uintah County, the local offices to be filled in the 2026 General Election include School Board Districts 1, 2, and 3; County Commission Seat A and B; County Attorney, County Clerk-Auditor, and County Sheriff. There are also openings for Utah State Senate District 20 and Utah State House District 68 as well as several Appeals and Supreme Court Judges up for retention. In Uintah County, there will also be U.S. House District 2 and in Duchesne County, U.S. House District 3 and Utah State House District 67. Candidacy filing for all offices will be open January 2nd through January 8th. Filing fees vary depending on the office but are listed in the 2026 Election Notice for each county. The amount charged for the filing fee is based on an equation determined by the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. For all County Offices, the filing fee is 1/8th of 1% of the total salary for the full term of office for each respective position, plus $50. For local county offices, this can vary between $450 to nearly $900 depending on the salary attached to the county office.
