It’s impossible to know what the families of soldiers lost in Afghanistan are experiencing but that isn’t stopping community members from wanting to show their condolences and support. Staff Sgt. Taylor Hoover was one of the Marines killed outside the Kabul airport on August 26th. His father, Darin Hoover, is a deputy with the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office.

Naples City Fills City Manager and Administrative Assistant Positions
There’s been a lot of change in Naples City administration but things are finally settling into place with new recruits hired. Mayor Dean Baker provided the update on how things are landing. Naples City has hired Mike Davis as the new City Manager replacing Joshua Bake who accepted a position as the Roosevelt City Manager.

UDOT Requests Feedback on Starvation Reservoir Bridge Construction
The Utah Department of Transportation is seeking feedback from the public concerning the ongoing Starvation Reservoir bridge construction. “As the Utah Department of Transportation actively works to repair and preserve the Starvation Reservoir Bridge on U.S. 40 in Duchesne County, communication with the public remains a top priority,” shares UDOT.

A local leader’s inspiration has resulted in a new organization advocating for rural Utah. During a legislative trip out to the Utah Capital, Vernal Chamber Director Joel Brown was having a conversation discussing what more could be done to advocate for rural Utah.
Daggett County Commission Update
In their monthly update in the Flaming Gorge Gazette newsletter, the Commissioners of Daggett County shared that they have been tirelessly working on many projects for the County that will soon be public knowledge. Public Asked to Report Any Sightings Of Man Who Fled On Foot Following Chase
The Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to report any sightings of a man who fled on foot following a chase on August 26th. According to the press release, Rio Blanco dispatch received a call from Moffat County Colorado State Patrol reporting that they were in pursuit of a Grey Chevy Impala headed north on Rio Blanco County Road 7.
Board Members Appointed for Newly Formed Special Service District #1
Movement is underway on the formation of a Special Service District in Uintah County that consolidates three of the Special Service Districts into one. On September 14th, 2020, the Uintah County Commission met to consider making changes to the Special Service Districts to address the significant decline in mineral lease funds.
Flash Flood Watch In Effect Today Throughout Region
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect and all are urged to use caution. National Weather Service reports that a passing disturbance combined with the remnant moisture of former Hurricane Nora will result in widespread showers and thunderstorms Wednesday into Wednesday night. Showers and thunderstorms will be capable of producing moderate to heavy rainfall with the potential for flash flooding in areas of eastern Utah and western Colorado.
