Prompted by an incident in the Vernal area, the Division of Wildlife Resources is reminding citizens across the state that it is illegal to keep wildlife as pets. “It is illegal to hold any protected wildlife captive in Utah,” shares the DWR.

Horsecorn Fire South of Vernal Update
The BIA Forestry and Wildland Fire agency provided an update on June 21st with information on the “Horsecorn Fire” on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation 60 miles south/southwest of Vernal. As of Monday, the Horsecorn Fire was mapped at 662 acres burning in pinyon-juniper, sagebrush and grass.
West Fire in Moffat County Update
BLM Colorado Fire provided an update on the West Fire on Monday at 5:00pm. The lightning caused West Fire in the Northwest corner of Moffat County has burned 2,403 acres.

Bear Fire in Carbon County Nearing Full Containment
Crews on the Bear Fire in Carbon County continue to make progress. As of the Monday update, containment had reached 93 percent with acreage remaining at 12,170 acres. Small areas of uncontained line remain on the southeast and southwest corners of the fire.
Update to US-40 Starvation Bridge Project
UDOT has provided an update on the Starvation Bridge project on Highway 40. Crews are finishing up the outside wall on the south side of the bridge and will be transitioning to the north. Be prepared for some new traffic patterns as the crews make the shift.
Uintah Recreation District Announces No Fireworks Allowed in Parks
Safety continues to be emphasized as fire and fireworks restrictions continue to be announced. Uintah Recreation District has joined in with an important announcement. “Due to extreme drought conditions and high fire danger, Uintah Recreation District is asking all Uintah County residents to use extreme caution when using residential fireworks,” shares Uintah Recreation District.
