‘Visit Dinosaurland’ Free Day Trips Starting in June

There is plenty to see and do here in the Uintah Basin and as such there are few people that have seen or done it all. In an effort to get the community and people visiting the area engaged in the variety of places to explore, the Uintah County Travel and Tourism Department is offering free day trips every Wednesday starting on June 9th.

Duchesne County Sheriff: Inmate Found Deceased

Duchesne County Sheriff Travis Tucker issued a press release on May 22nd reporting that on May 21st, at approximately 7:00 pm, inmate John Mooney was found lifeless in his cell from what appeared to be self-inflicted injuries. Life saving measures were unsuccessful and he passed away. John was a 54-year-old Duchesne County resident who was booked into the Jail on April 30th.

There was a substantial loss of property in a fire on Friday in Uintah County. The smoke could be seen for several miles from the structure fire in the area of 2500 South and 3200 East, the structure being described as a tractor shed.

Nighthawk Stealth Fighter Jet Journeys Through Uintah Basin

A road tripping F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter jet made its way through the Uintah Basin as an Oversized load on Highway 40 on Friday. The F-117 left a military test range in Nevada on Thursday and was scheduled to arrive at its new home at the Strategic Air Command and Aerospace Museum near Ashland, Nebraska by Sunday.

TriCounty Health Offering Free COVID-19 Testing Three Days a Week

Starting today, TriCounty Health Department is offering free COVID-19 testing three days a week. TriCounty Health shared on Friday that the Vernal office will have weekly testing Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am to 11am. The Roosevelt office will have testing Monday and Wednesday from 8am to 11am.
