Local realtors are doing what they can to make sure every kid at school gets a full belly during lunchtime. Every year the Uintah Basin Chapter of Real Estate Agents holds a fundraiser to benefit the community. Last year, they gathered food and money for local food pantries. This year they are hosting a ‘Chuck Your Change for School Lunch’ drive.

Imagine the shock of losing your home and all of your belongings. That is the reality for the victims of the Dollar Ridge Fire and many in the community are organizing ways to help. A growing list of sponsors are planning the Dollar Ridge Fire-Aid Fair that will include fund raising over 2 days in August.
Duchesne County Mosquito Pool Tests Positive for West Nile Virus
Duchesne County is among the latest counties in the state to report a positive test for West Nile Virus among its mosquito population. According to the Utah Department of Health, there are now 9 mosquito pools in the state that have tested positive and two of those are in the TriCounty Health District, one in Duchesne County and one in Uintah County.
DWR Creates New Local Boater Program on Flaming Gorge
The Division of Wildlife Resources has created a new local boater program that expedites the process of boating on Flaming Gorge. The program reduces the amount of time spent with with Aquatic Invasive Species specialists before launching your boat at the boat ramp on the Utah side of Flaming Gorge.
Crews Continue to Battle Fires in the Greater Region
Fires continue to keep crews busy. In the greater region, firefighters in Rio Blanco County are working on the Red Canyon Fire on County Road 27. It is 1190 acres and remains at 0% containment. Structures remain threatened with one residence evacuated. The Whiskey Fire is on Rangely County Road 109 and is being held at 39.5 acres and with no containment reported.
