Juvenile Drives Car Into Unoccupied Silver Pines Unit; DUI Suspected

Residents at Silver Pines Condominiums in Vernal were shocked Saturday morning to discover a massive hole in the outer wall of a first floor rental unit. According to Vernal City Police, officers were dispatched to 860 South Vernal Avenue at 7:15am on June 9th regarding extensive damage caused when a vehicle collided with the front of Apartment #R103.

Summer Reading Program Sparks Friendly Rivalry Between Local Libraries

A friendly rivalry between the Duchesne and Uintah County Libraries is fueling more local kids to sign up for the summer reading programs. Uintah County Library Director Sam Passey took to Facebook a week ago announcing that the Duchesne County Library group had more children signed up for their Summer Reading Program and urged Uintah County residents to sign up and get reading.

Driver Hits Moose and Calf on Highway 40; Critical Injuries

No driver is immune to the dangers that wildlife can pose when crossing the road but travelers are especially at risk when someone is driving recklessly. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a red Pontiac Bonneville was traveling eastbound on Highway 40 near Daniel’s Canyon on June 2nd at around 11:20pm when it struck a moose and its calf that were standing in the roadway.

Semi Overturns on SR-191 Causing Hazardous Spill on Highway

Traffic was slow moving on SR-191 on Wednesday after an accident resulted in a hazardous spill. According to Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Todd Royce, a semi hauling 12 containers of potassium hydroxide overturned in the southbound lane at mile post 369 just after 11am. Ten of the 12 containers cracked open causing a spill on the highway.

Uintah County Fair Offering Endless Family Fun

Having the Uintah County Fair in June has provided fantastic family fun to kick off the summer season. “The fair is always the highlight of the year,” shares Uintah County Commissioner Bill Stringer, who says the County searched around for a good month to hold the fair and June won out.
