The Division of Wildlife Resources needs your help! Repair and maintenance work is scheduled to take place on the Steinaker Reservoir dam next fall and between now and then officials are hoping to salvage as many fish from the lake as possible. “The reservoir will soon be drained for dam repairs and we need anglers, from boats and the shore, to catch bluegill for us,” shares the DWR.

Rapha House Fundraiser a Success
Women came together for a night of fun on Friday, all to help victims of sex trafficking. The Annual Ladies Night Out benefitting Rapha House started 4 years ago and has grown into a tradition for many families and groups of friends. The first year the event raised $5,000 dollars. The next year that number doubled.

Roosevelt Crash: One in Extremely Critical Condition, One in Poor Condition
Two people are in the hospital after a serious two vehicle crash in Roosevelt on Saturday evening. According to Utah Highway Patrol, 26-year-old Cameron Martinez of Roosevelt was driving a pickup westbound on Highway 40 near 1700 West in Roosevelt at about 5:19pm on Saturday.

The Duchesne County Special Olympics law enforcement torch run had a record turnout on Thursday. There were around 50 Special Olympians and about that many more officers, family, friends and family services representatives.

Dinah “SOAR” Days to Pepper Weekend with Colorful Skies
If you’ve been outside today in the Vernal area it’s likely your eye has been drawn to the sky. Today is day one of the three day Dinah “SOAR” Days and Hot Air Balloon Festival, an event that is expected to become an annual local celebration. The idea originated from the Hospitality Committee wanting to have some kind of day to represent the community. A collaborative effort got under way and this weekend was picked because of the Dino Half marathon already drawing people from outside the area.
Local Family Creates Pre-Nursing Scholarships for Uintah Basin Students
Two sisters are investing in the future of nursing education in the Uintah Basin. During this year’s commencement ceremonies, it was announced that Ann and Inella Kunz have donated $25,000 dollars to the USU Foundation, establishing the Ann and Inella Kunz Scholarship Endowment.
UDOT Bridgeland/Myton Construction Project Well Underway
The season of road construction is here and the Uintah Basin will have its share of orange cones and barrels. Among the projects underway in Region 3 is the passing lanes being installed between Bridgeland and Myton. The project is aimed at improving safety and mobility by constructing a passing lane on Highway 40 in both the eastbound and westbound directions.
