Five Charged with Attempted Aggravated Murder in Duchesne County

Maeser Students Reach Goal; Witness Special Helicopter Delivery

Basin Agencies Awarded at Annual ‘Rural Water Association of Utah’ Conference
Multiple Uintah Basin cities and agencies received awards at the 2018 Annual ‘Rural Water Association of Utah’ Conference held in St. George earlier this year. Simplot Phosphates took home the coveted trophy for ‘Best Water in Utah’. A panel of judges performed a blind taste test based on clarity, taste, and smell of water and Simplot was selected as the winner among many entries.
Uintah County Sheriff’s Office and Vernal PD Assist Rangely Police on Drug Check
State lines don’t get in the way of law enforcement agencies offering each other support. Last week, Uintah County Sheriff’s Office and Vernal Police Department assisted the Rangely Police Department on a random drug search at the Rangely High School.
Sterling Scholar Region Runner-Up Highlight: Spencer Day
Uintah High School represented very well at competition this month with three Uintah seniors being named Sterling Scholars for the Northeast Region and four being named runner-ups. Spencer Day was awarded the runner-up title for Region English Sterling Scholar. Spencer is the son of Nicholas and Cynthia Day.
Vernal City Police Department Holds Annual Awards Banquet
The Vernal City Police Department annual awards banquet recognizes the accomplishments of the officers during the previous year. Among the awards presented were the following: Officer Ryan Cannon was awarded a Lifesaving Commendation for saving the life of a stabbing victim last May.
Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra Spring Concert on Saturday
The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra is wrapping up a very successful second season with their spring concert being held tomorrow night at the Vernal Middle School. Season 2 started off with new recruits and several months of practice leading up to their fall concert in November. Soon after, the group began preparing for an unbelievable opportunity, a music festival to be held in March at Abravanel Hall.
