Stakeholders from Duchesne County met with Governor Herbert and other state partners on Tuesday at the state capital building. The meeting focused on Duchesne County’s economic development plan and how it ties into the Governor’s 25,000 jobs in rural Utah initiative.

Unrelated Charges for Men Awaiting Trial for Rape

The dates for that trial, now to be held in Salt Lake County since the mistrial last month in Summit County, have not yet been announced
Man Charged With Theft of Jaguar and Assaulting Police During Arrest
A man in Uintah County has been charged with 2nd degree felony theft and multiple counts of assaulting a police officer during an arrest that took place last month. 22-year-old Gregory Lee Augustus allegedly stole a 2003 dark green Jaguar on or about December 13th from the business, We Buy Junk Cars.

Accident in Roosevelt Investigated As DUI
An accident that occured in Roosevelt last week is being investigated for DUI. According to Roosevelt City Police Chief Rick Harrison, a 2008 Jeep Commander traveling east and driven by 28-year-old Chapeete Serawop failed to stop for a red light at 200 North State Street in Roosevelt at about 5:00pm on December 27th.

The Conservation Issues Committee of the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce is urging residents to recycle their Christmas tree, offering several ideas of what to do. Some people choose to keep their tree and turn it into a winter bird feeder.
