According to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, a California couple pulled over on Saturday by the Sheriff’s K9 team for speeding ended up at the Sweetwater County Detention Center with felony drug charges. 24-year-old Nicholas Wyatt Haws was driving a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan traveling 90 mph in a 75 mph zone when he was pulled over. Five large duffel bags were found in the minivan containing about 107 pounds of marijuana packaged in vacuum-sealed bags. Haws and his passenger, 22-year-old Ryana M. Quiocho, were arrested and remain in custody pending their initial appearance in Circuit Court. They are both charged with Unlawful Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance. The arrest brings the K9 unit’s marijuana seizures to 800 pounds since late October.
