Roosevelt City Police Offering “Safe Zone” for Child Exchanges
Roosevelt City is now offering a service that it hopes will promote safety as well as free up resources. The Roosevelt City Police Department has installed a camera in the police parking lot on the south side of the City building that can serve as what they call a Safe Zone.
Fort Duchesne Man Enters Guilty Plea For Assault on Federal Officer
28-year-old Jarvis Charlie Cuch of Fort Duchesne entered a guilty plea to Assault on a Federal Officer on Monday in U.S. District Court. The charge stems from a high speed chase in which Cuch fired a gun out the window at a pursuing officer.
UTSSD Board Lifts Suspension on Executive Director
The suspension on Uintah Transportation Special Service District Executive Director Adam Massey has been lifted. During a meeting held Wednesday night, the UTSSD board unanimously voted to lift the suspension, shares board member Kevin VanTassell.
California Couple Latest Arrested in Sweetwater County on Felony Drug Charges
The Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office continues to prove that I-80 isn’t a safe route for drug traffickers that would rather not get caught. According to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, a California couple pulled over on Saturday by the Sheriff’s K9 team for speeding ended up at the Sweetwater County Detention Center with felony drug charges. 24-year-old Nicholas Wyatt Haws was driving a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan traveling 90 mph in a 75 mph zone when he was pulled over. Five large duffel bags were found in the minivan containing about 107 pounds of marijuana packaged in vacuum-sealed bags. Haws and his passenger, 22-year-old Ryana M. Quiocho, were arrested and remain in custody pending their initial appearance in Circuit Court. They are both charged with Unlawful Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance. The arrest brings the K9 unit’s marijuana seizures to 800 pounds since late October.
Santa Makes Time for Annual Polar Express Story Time
Santa only has so much time each December but thanks to tradition he makes it every year to read his favorite Christmas book to children at the Uintah County Library. Starting early in the month, local families are able to get tickets to one of several scheduled times for Santa story time.

A petition to the Supreme Court filed Tuesday is questioning a Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals decision to allow exhaustion by Tribal Court on the trespassing claim in the Todd Murray case.
Uintah High FBLA Earns ‘Outstanding Chapter’ Award for Region
Uintah High School’s chapter of FBLA is garnering attention in the region. The Future Business Leaders of America placed first overall at regional competition last week and were named the region’s ‘Outstanding Chapter’. The competition was held at USU Eastern in Price with 27 Uintah High School students competing.
