Vernal Regional Airport Director Doug Brown provided an airport update to local officials during the monthly city/county meeting held in Vernal on Monday. According to Brown, the current phase of construction on the runway project is on pace to be complete by December 7th and the final phase will be finished no later than June 25th.

A 36-year-old man is wanted by the FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs for an incident that took place on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation last week. According to FBI Public Affairs Specialist Sandra Yi Barker, George Anthony Salinas is wanted in connection with a domestic assault that happened at a home on the reservation at around midnight on Tuesday, October 17th.
Proposition 5 Meeting Draws Arguments For and Against
Nearly 50 people attended a meeting Thursday night aimed at educating Uintah County voters on the proposition they will find on their ballots for the upcoming election. Proposition 5 asks voters to decide if Uintah County shall be authorized to impose a quarter of one percent sales tax, which is the equivalent of 1 cent for every $4 dollars spent, for the purpose of transportation services locally.

3 Men Arrested in Grand Junction Area for Child Sex Trafficking

US Attorney’s Office Files Suit Against Group Over Illegal Hunting Licenses
The United States Attorney’s Office of the District of Utah filed a complaint Wednesday against the group that calls themselves the “Uinta Valley Shoshone Tribe” for selling hunting and fishing licenses on the Uintah and Ouray Reservation. According to the press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the law allows the U.S. to seek a civil injunction to stop what they consider in this case to be wire fraud while they conduct a further investigation.
